Mario Lohninger hat mit seinem neuen Lokal den Begriff des „Gasthauses“ neu belebt und zeitgemäß interpretiert. Rundum herrscht eine entspannte und ungezwungene Atmosphäre. Auch Gäste, die nur lediglich auf ein Glas Wein vorbeikommen möchten, sind herzlich willkommen. Die Karte bietet neben Klassikern wie dem Wiener Schnitzel, Backhendl & Zwiebelrostbraten auch Kärntner Schlutzkrapfen, Bergheufilet und Palatschinken. An die Zeiten der österreichisch-ungarischen Monarchie erinnern Ochsenbackerlgulasch und Kaiserschmarrn, außerdem gibt es fabelhafte Fischgerichte wie ein Black Cod oder geangelten Seewolf. Die Weinkarte zeichnet sich durch sorgfältig zusammengestellte Flaschenweine aus Österreich und Deutschland sowie ebenfalls auch einem gutes Dutzend offener Weine aus. In der zeit zwischen Mittag- und Abendessen dient das Lohninger mit einem Kaffeehauskonzept, von 14:00 bis 18:00 gibt es die Klassiker unter den Wiener Mehlspeisen, hausgemachten Kuchen & herzhafte Snacks.

For those with discerning tastes and craving well executed Austrian food, wine, and service while in Frankfurt. You won’t be disappointed. Standouts are ravioli and tartar starters, Wiener Schnitzel fish special, and Kaiserschmarren.

Everything about the restaurant was great. My only issue was one of our diners has celiac. We were told that the chef also has celiac so we thought there should not be any issues cross contamination. However, when they brought the gluten-free bread it happened to be on the same plate touching the non-gluten-free bread. That is an absolute no no. Otherwise the food was outstanding.
