Burdell is a Soul Food restaurant in the Temescal neighborhood of Oakland from James Beard Finalist, Chef Geoff Davis.Named for and inspired by his maternal grandmother, Burdell, the restaurant reflects her love for well-set tables, entertaining guests, shared meals, and laughter. Burdell is centered on nostalgia, family recipes, thoughtful and sustainable sourcing, and the forgotten impact of Black farming, ranching, fishing, foraging, and culture on American cuisine and hospitality. Always order their delicious deviled eggs…superb! Had the Sunday Supper. Appetizer, main course and dessert for only $40. A delicious bargain! Bocanova is an Oakland treasure. We have fewer and fewer of such gleaming stars in our beleaguered city. Let’s be sure to support them!

Although the wait was not what we expected, the Service was Exceptional and the Food Bay Bay.....yes, I spelled it like that on purpose was Phenomenal, Fantastic, Amazing, Well Worth the Wait!!! Based on history, the owner is family! Thank you so much for welcoming us! And yes!!! I will be back!!!
