Richard Harding Watt influenced the town’s architecture by delivering a little piece of Italy for everyone to appreciate, up and down King Street, notably in the design of the memorial tower overlooking Giovanni’s.

Blacklock is a modern take of the Great British chophouse nestled in the corner of a Grade II listed textiles warehouse. We take the best meat in the country from the award-winning farmer and butcher Philip Warren in Cornwall. We cook chops simply over our charcoal grill with a little help from vintage Blacklock irons and serve it all up alongside cocktails from the trolley and wine on tap in our subterranean chop mecca. On Sundays we serve a Roast almost as good as Mum's. We have limited spaces for Walk-ins, so we encourage booking in advance to avoid disappointment during busy times. We had a beautiful meal in a relaxed, spotlessly clean environment. Attentive service, fantastic food. Make a lovely afternoon to celebrate and catch up with friends.

The food was delicious and the waiting staff were all very polite - some were clearly new, but did a very good job at making us feel welcome. The only downside was there was a DJ who started at just after 8pm which made it very hard for us to have a conversation, even though we were sat in the restaurant side of the pub. Overall though I would definitely come back, just perhaps not on a Friday night!
