Set on the tranquil Bayou Bonfouca near Old Town Slidell, our waterfront restaurant/event venue is known for its southern charm. Palmettos famous Brunch features live Jazz Saturday and Sunday. The 5,000sqf covered deck provides a dramatic outdoor setting at night for romantic dinners and a comfortable relaxed atmosphere during the day. Locally owned and operated by Louis Ochoa with over 35 years experience in the restaurant business, his goal was to create a restaurant with "from scratch kitchen", that serves local Louisiana seafood, served with southern hospitality. Café Degas fue llamado así en honor a un impresionista francés del siglo XIX, Hilaire Germain Edgar Degas, que visitó Nueva Orleans en 1872 y vivió durante un corto tiempo en 2306 Esplanade Avenue, la calle donde está ubicado el restaurante. El artista y restaurador francés Jacques Soulas llegó a Nueva Orleans en 1980 y, junto a su amigo Jerry Edgar, decidió construir un restaurante que recordara su tierra natal y donde los comensales pudieran disfrutar del ambiente típico del bistro francés (con un toque de Nueva Orleans), buena comida y una excelente carta de vinos. Juntos eligieron la ubicación actual por su encanto histórico, el atractivo artístico y pintoresco de la zona y porque el espacio disponible era justo el que necesitaban para el proyecto que tenían en mente.
