   The food is fantastic, even though it is pricier than what we expected. The service was friendly, and the ambiance is ok. The five-star rating is the result of the outstanding food.

   Meal was perfect, so was the service. Great atmosphere, wine and food choices. Menu is somehow edited, but so complete at the same time.great for date night, a friendly outing or a family occasion. A must try.

   We had a great time at Helen. The staff were very professional and friendly. The food was delicious and well prepared. It reminded us of food from the Peloponese. We highly recommend Helen.

   The food here was really, really good. I enjoyed it very much. The service was a bit slow but I only saw two women running everything. I thought it was a little weird too when I checked in for my reservation I was pointed to a table of people that were not in my party. My girlfriends and I shared a bunch of plates. We got the village salad, octopus, dip trio, lots of pita bread. They don’t give you much and every plate has dips on it. We got the croquettes, cheese pie, meatballs, the lemonade drink with sparkling wine and two desserts. One of the desserts was a phyllo pastry filled with vanilla cream, topped off with strawberry jam. That one was so good. The other was a spirulina cake with kataifi and lemon. I would definitely go back for the food. They have a great Greek wine list too. Ambiance is cute, I enjoyed it. Brick walls, cute lighting, tvs on at the bar. I was able to get parking right in the front of the restaurant too.

   The good was absolutely delicious. My husband and I ordered the trio dips with pita, the chicken, and the lamb chops. All of the plates were so well seasoned, cooked to perfection, and absolutely delicious.

   Started with the sangria and a glass of wine for my wife. Sangria was a little sweet for me, but i get that varies from place to place. Then had the trio dip appetizer but substituted the sourdough bread for the pita bread. Much better. Shared the village salad which was amazing. Then had the steak kabob for the entree - excellent. We shared the dishes and had plenty of food. We went on a Sunday at noon and the place was very quiet which we enjoyed. I know in the evenings it gets much more active. Highly recommend Helen's!

   I especially appreciate the restaurant's layout and the fact that the noise level was low. That enabled us to have a relaxed, quiet conversation without having to yell . . . like you have to do in many other restaurants. The food and service were excellent.

   We love this special little place in Rice Village. Whenever we are in town we try to get a reservation because they are consistently good and have a nice twist to traditional Greek offerings. As many restaurants going through and surviving the pandemic, they have had to adjust their offerings and we think they have planned well. We dined on the most beautiful chicken at Helen’s on Christmas Eve that took me back to the Greek home-cooking I grew up eating. Their selection of Greek wines are always wonderful and the appetizer and salad last night were delish! One would expect that a restaurant could be a bit “off” on a holiday evening, but not this kitchen nor the staff. It was perfection from start to finish and we just wish they were in Austin instead of Houston!

    The fish special, branzino was not as menu described. Was supposed to be roasted with lemon and potato and instead served with bread stuffing and heavy tomato, olive. Amd a zillion chick peas . Totally different flavor profile . Stores discouraged husband from ordering gyro platter that he used to enjoy because it was so large for 1 person and instead suggested the gyro sandwich which was space in chicken and dry . Waitress kept insisting the fish was as described ! Ordered wine from menu which appeared highly dated and good value and they didn’t have it . Overall not the experience I remembered of a few years ago!
