    Acoustics are not great. One of the waiters kept staring at me (not our waiter) and that was weird. Otherwise, I LOVE this restaurant. The food is great. The environment is wonderful.

    Our server, Andrew, was the BEST. Knowledgeable, suggested menu items, explained, was a dream. My friend orders the tamale every time, and it never disappoints. My prime ribeye, however, was probably the toughest steak I've ever had. It was perfectly cooked to med rare but tough is tough. I should have had the salmon. Will always return to Gertrude's, but this meal was a disappointment.

    The waitress was very nice, allowed us to take our time in ordering. She gave some great recommendations. We got the salmon and the mole enchiladas. Both were very delicious and good portion sizes. We also got dessert and I didn’t know this but they have their own pastry chef on site, so none of that premade stuff. We got a trifle that had blueberries, a custard and a very dense cake all layered. We ended the dinner with a walk around the botanical garden.

    Great atmosphere, fast service, great food. Our second time here. We actually got engaged here after a meal here and walked the gardens and it was perfect. The food is great. The cheese corn is my absolute favorite! We drive an hour just to eat here and walk the gardens every couple of months The mole enchiladas are the only thing I wouldn’t recommend. The tortillas were extremely bland and bitter and the meat was very dry. Everything else is perfect!

    We ate dinner as the sun was setting and the view was spectacular. Our waiter helped us choose our food and wine, and we were very pleased with our selections. Everything was very pretty and yummy. We recommend finishing off a day of strolling through the gardens at this fine establishment.

    Gertrude's is always a treat to enjoy around a DBG visit. The menu has old favorites as well as seasonal specials to try. The cocktails were not as fabulous as in the past but the desserts were top notch.
