We have been regular visitors to Gaucho Chancery Lane, as we’ve always found it to be one of the best steakhouses in London. However, our Valentine’s Day experience was deeply disappointing. From the start, it was clear that the restaurant was severely understaffed. The waiting time between courses was unacceptable—40 minutes between each dish, which completely disrupted the flow of the meal. The quality of the food was also below their usual standard. Our starter was undercooked, with the dough still soggy. When our mains finally arrived, the steak was overcooked, despite requesting medium rare. Given our past experiences, this was a real letdown. The biggest issue was the lack of service. While we understand it was a busy evening, we felt that the focus was more on maximizing revenue than maintaining quality. The 13% service charge felt entirely unjustified as the total time a server spent at our table was under three minutes. Overall, this was not the level of experience we expect from Gaucho, and certainly not for a special occasion. We hope they address their staffing and service issues, as this visit was far from what we’ve come to appreciate from this restaurant.

Got to try the new winter set lunch menu for free. Food was fantastic and great value for money. Service from Renato was amazing and want to give him a shout-out. Love this place!

The service was very pleasant and helpful with the choice of wines. The marinated fillet steak was absolutely delicious as were the hand made chips. The green salad was a bit tired but generally the food was excellent and the atmosphere enjoyable.

The entire staff made our evening so very special as we were celebrating our engagement and they went the extra mile to make it memorable for us. A first class place which I can highly recommend for any occasion. Well done Gaucho Chancery Lane!
