Yardbird is our rotisserie chicken restaurant upstairs above The Dirty Onion. Our menu is small but our flavours are big. Ok, we do chicken, but our chicken is famous!Our local free-to-roam chicken is marinated for 24 hours in lemon, buttermilk, and paprika. It is then dry-rubbed, cooked and blast-chilled to keep it juicy and finally roasted on the spit. Ribs and wings are also available, as are a choice of sides and homemade desserts. We have always enjoyed having Afternoon Tea at the Merchant Hotel. The food is excellent and the staff are very attentive. We have no hesitation in recommending Afternoon Tea at the Merchant Hotel to family and friends.

Absolutely cracking meal here last night. The quality and presentation of was superb, cocktails so lush and the staff were fantastic. Will definitely be returning.

Had their pre-theatre menu which was 2 courses for £28 which I thought was great value. The food was excellent, we both had the chicken supreme and it was delicious! Service was 5 star. The restaurant was very quiet which we liked, but I’m surprised it wasn’t more busy as it’s right next door to the theatre with how amazing the food is! Would definitely go again for pre-theatre.
