Located in the heart of the Goodwood Estate and surrounded by the South Downs National Park, The Star & Garter in East Dean offers a delicious selection of freshly cooked, local and seasonal food in a charming dining space with red brick and oak beams. Just a mile down the hill from Goodwood Race Course we are 12 minutes drive from Chichester. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner we try to source our ingredients as locally and as seasonally as possible. Whether you are at a Goodwood Event or walking, cycling or just out for a drive and fancy a decent meal at reasonable prices, we like to think we are one of the best around. We have a great courtyard and garden space which can seat up to 100 people. Freshly ground coffee is available all day. With a mixture of local people and tourists there's always a warm welcome here.

"Amberley Castle has a long held reputation for delivering outstanding cuisine.Enjoyed on the first floor of the castle in either the magnificent Queen's Room, with its barrel-vaulted ceiling dating back to the 12th century and open fire or The Great Room, built-in 1165 by Bishop Luffa of Chichester, a fine example of Norman architecture with its high lancet windows, open fireplace, oak flooring, tapestry and suits of armour.The dress code for the dining room is smart casual. We booked a pre Christmas Sunday Lunch at Farmer, Butcher, Chef on the recommendation of a friend and we weren't disappointed. The food was excellent quality, very tasty and whilst priced at the upper end of what you usually want to pay for Sunday Lunch, it was worth it. None of us had any vegetarian dishes so unfortunately can't comment on those, but the meat was tender and tasty, the roast potatoes crispy and some of the best cauliflower cheese we have had for a long time. Three of our party also had cocktails at the end of the meal, which they all loved. Overall a wonderful lunch on a great venue. Thoroughly recommended.

Such an amazing place - the atmosphere, the food is great but the best thing is the people that work there, so attentive and caring. The best pub in the area.

A terrific evening for a family celebration. Great live music and the team were so hospitable on a very busy night. Super atmosphere and the food was very good, as usual.

Lovely evening, with very good service. Especially from the very attentive gentleman from Serbia, and the gentleman from Argentina! So sorry to have forgotten their names. A very special place, with so much history.
