Situated in the historic village of Aylesford, The Hengist is a modern restaurant and bar, a short walk from the river's edge.The 16th Century building stands with original features, offering a perfect balance of elegance, heritage and modernity all surrounded by manicured gardens. The Hengist offers a range of dining options including a casual dining option on the ground floor and two more formal dining rooms upstairs along with outside terrace dining in our gardens. We offer seasonal 'a la carte and 'set' menus along with a 'Sunday lunch' menu. All of our dishes are freshly made to order with locally sourced ingredients.

The Plough isn't your average countryside pub. Sitting on a quiet lane in a quintessentially English village, The Plough was set to be sold off the developers when 120 members of the community came together to invest, and save, their local. After its purchase and renovation, the Yates family took over the kitchen and opened the pub's small, but proud, restaurant, Bowleys. Head Chef Alex Yates is still very early on in his career but though only in his early twenties, he has already spent two years in the kitchens at The Goring Hotel in London, as well as having gained experience with Rick Stein and even once cooking for the Queen. Bowleys menus have a traditional feel and adhere to classic, English fare with a fine dining twist. There are several options to choose between including a tasting menu, set lunch, a la carte, brunch and Sunday lunch. The tasting menu is the jewel in Bowleys crown and consists of five courses, with an optional sixth.

Open Tuesday to Sunday with food served all day from noon.We now have 3 Giant heated Tipis, they provide lots of fresh air and a lovely open environment, they are also heated.Formerly an 18th Century farmhouse boasting exposed beams, oak floors, exposed brickwork and oak tables. This leads to a very relaxed and cosy atmosphere with candle lit tables and real flame stoves.The cuisine is typically modern European, classically cooked using cornerstones such as stock pots to create their sauces with a brigade that has a passion for what they do. Office lunch for 4 people, food, drink and desserts were delicious. The setting is really lovely, comfortable and clean. The service was a little slow but we were conscious of time, if you have plenty of time this would not be a problem as you don't feel rushed. Desserts were the star of the show on our visit- we will be returning!

From cocktails to coffee excellent food and service. The chefs surpass anything you could imagine and all of the staff are friendly fun and attentive. Couldn't recommend a better place to spend an evening enjoying cocktails and superb food.

Service was adequate, waitress did not know what the fish was with the fish and chips, and no offer to find out when asked! The curry was nice, but should have come with rice, poppadom and naan bread. The naans turned out to be tortilla wraps! Service was very slow, especially for drinks Restaurant area is tired and needs refreshing
