Situated under the atmospherically delightful Arthur Probsthain Oriental and African Bookseller (est. 1903 no less), Tea and Tattle is a very English escape from the stiff upper lips of the busy streets above. Painted in a bright white, the room is light and airy despite its subterranean location, one wall featuring hand-painted Chinese wallpaper, others eclectic art works, some of course related to the business of bookselling. Calling itself a ‘traditional tea room with a modern cultural twist’, Tea and Tattle specialises in that indulgent favourite, the afternoon tea.
