Beggar's Banquet has been making folks in East Lansing, Michigan beg for more since 1973. Not that the servings are small, but because you just don't want to stop experiencing one delicious menu item after another. It actually got its name from the proprietor's favorite Rolling Stones album that was released in 1968. The American cuisine at Beggar's Banquet is full of comfort food but with an elegant twist here and there. Options are plenty on the lunch menu, dinner menu, daily brunch menu and Sunday brunch menu. One notable item is the smoked salmon cake platter. Batter Up Bistro is one of my favorite spots in Lansing! The entire staff is always incredibly friendly, which I think comes from their wonderful owner. She clearly takes pride in what she does and genuinely loves hosting, creating a warm and welcoming culture. I celebrated my birthday here, and the staff went above and beyond by giving me a card and cake—it was such a thoughtful touch. The food is consistently delicious, with excellent gluten-free and vegan options. Highly recommend this gem to anyone looking for great food and an amazing atmosphere!

Amazing food as always. We were sat by the door when there was no one in the restaurant and asked to move because it was a special occasion…and we wanted to spend time with the people we were dining with…instead they put us in the middle of the room. The restaurant was empty. It would have been nice to not be under the spotlight. The food was delicious!! The service was good not great. The server didn’t seem to know the menu very well or the types of booze they offered. The salad came after the entrees but otherwise it was great!
