Chefs Rafael Lopez & Ben Hughes opened a small intimate Bistro with flavour lead and produce driven food. Local farms are visited daily to gather ingredients to create dishes with. Sète (named after the coastal town in France) is a wine bar, shop, and kitchen. Our doors opened to the wine bar in October 2022 and the restaurant and garden in July 2023. The seasonal menu focuses on modern European cooking with a heavy French influence, highlighting the best produce Kent has to offer. Wine is certainly at the heart of what we love. After closing for 2 weeks for an interior refurb the pub now has a fresh and clean new look. The creation of a proper snug is part of the change and is available for private hire for small gatherings or family occasions. The rear barn has also undergone refurbishment and is now a wonderful room dating back to the 15th Century with oak beams and flagstone floor folding doors open out on to the rear courtyard and river Stour beyond. The barn forms part of the restaurant but can also be made available for small functions and parties of up to 20 - 25 people.

    From booking to the end of our visit, everything went very well. On arrival, we were shown to our table, which was by the window. We had a lovely view across the bay. Our waitress took our order for drinks and food fairly promptly as there weren’t many diners in the restaurant at the time. The restaurant gradually filled up and we were pleased we had arrived early We chose the roast beef and all the trimmings and when it arrived there was plenty of food and it was well cooked. We enjoyed our meal and our visit very much
