El Mamakas es una elegante taberna griega con capacidad para 85 comensales situada en Ossington Avenue. Su propietario, Thanos Tripi, sirve auténtica cocina griega elaborada con productos frescos y platillos clásicos de la gastronomía griega con un enfoque contemporáneo. Michelin-recommended since 2022.We first imagined Aloette to be the perfect diner that we’d want to dine in – a menu with a great cheeseburger paired with a fantastic and fun wine list, a long row of bar stools facing the bar and the kitchen, and an energetic atmosphere accented with an old school hip hop playlist. The buzz of the dining room mirrors the energy of the street on Spadina Avenue; the dining room itself mimics a train’s dining car. It’s a bistro-meets-diner-meets-internationally-inspired menu which is also representative of the diverse culture in Toronto. Our service team is upbeat and genuine but also deeply knowledgeable about the menu and offerings. Brunch at Aloette was something we said we’d never do. But the city kept asking and we’re glad to be a new staple in the Queen West neighbourhood for mimosas, chicken and waffles, and piping hot coffees. General Public is inspired by trying to imagine what an upscale English pub would be if it had the heart of an American brasserie (and was open 11 to 11). It’s also going to signal a little bit of steakhouse, but not too much. And finally, it will look behind itself at the Black Hoof, which you will see reflected in James Santon’s menu here and there. In terms of vibe, the main floor is ‘everything’s gone green’, with lush comfortable banquette seating, warm wood, and barstools designed for long conversations over many cocktails. Upstairs you’ll find a completely different space that transports you to a peachy 80s dream. Somehow these two halves make perfect sense, and complement each other in a seamless conversation, where neither wins the argument, but you really do have to see it! See you soon!

Innovative food with impeccable service. Definitively a destination to come back over and over. The steaks are yummy and perfect for sharing. We had the ribeye which was juicy and perfectly done. The mushroom blintz is unique and a wonderful compliment. The fluke and fennel is also a bit familiar while also different. We wanted to try everything on the menu. The cocktails are all complimentary and a star on their own. We'll be back.

Focaccia with Maple butter and baked Brie (plant based) with crostini were excellent starters Dinner was Rigate Gigi, Mushroom Truffle Agnolotti and vegan Salmon (3 ppl) All dishes were fantastic Dessert was the Chocolate Orange cake which was delicious Will definitely be back 😀👍

We've lived in the neighbourhood for 3 years, driven by this restaurant many, many times and only visited for the first time last night. The food, ambiance, service were all spectacular. We will definitely be returning. I'm only disappointed it took us so long to try this spot!
