Very bad experience at Cyclone Anaya’s Midtown location on Gray St. First, the food was excellent. We both had fish tacos. They were delicious. The cerviche was outstanding. Service was also very good. Problem came when we paid. My girlfriend gave me a $100 gift certificate for Christmas. I showed the digital gift certificate to our server. “Sorry, our scanner is broken, we can’t take it.” “Been happening several times tonight, please pay with your credit card.” “No. I said. This is your problem not my problem, figure something out. I already have $100 in credit at Cyclone Anaya and that’s how I intend to pay.” The server called the manager. The manager told me “You have to pay with your credit card, our scanner is broken.” I replied, “I am never paying you with my credit card, this is your problem, not my problem, you should fix it.” I told him he could take the gift card number and a photo of the QR code and use those when his system was fixed. “No, he said, “you need to pay with your credit card.” I repeated, “I am never paying you with my credit card.” At that point the manager told me I was being “rude” and “the two of you need to leave the restaurant now.” He ushered us out of the restaurant. He was angry. We paid nothing. It was a disappointing end to a beautiful dinner.

The food was okay. My husband had the Bomba shrimp appetizer and didn’t like the taste. However, I thought the fish tacos were tasty. My rating is because we went there for the frozen margaritas and was disappointed that the machine wasn’t working. Our waitress had a great attitude.

Surprisingly was fairly empty for a Friday night. Wait staff very attentive. Food was delicious, drinks very good, we think the pricing a fair value. Our favorite TexMex restaurant.

The overall experience was great. While we were there they had to run this homeless guy out of there twice which made me feel uneasy. The first time he walk through where everyone was eating then went sat at the bar. I didn’t like that. I’m not sure if I’ll return to that location.

The food was not up to the standards of what I have had at other locations. The margaritas were weak, tasted like lime juice. The shrimp fajitas were greasy and were not served with pico or any other condiments. The ribeye was over cooked and of substandard quality, it was also greasy. The place was so loud that we had to shout across the table.

Great evening to catch up with friends. Food and drinks were amazing. The only negative I could say is our table was in the back very far from the entrance and apparently they have a bell there that rings anytime the entrance door opens. That was a bit distracting at times but now I know ow not to sit there. It did not put a damper on the evening. We love this location. We drive all the way from the Woodlands even though there is a location there because the food is so much better
