James & Jake work together every shift to serve dishes with a real sense of terroir and provenance, including our speciality of wild foods foraged ourselves. Been here a few times and each time think it’s a bit disappointing. It could be a great restaurant but I think the chef or owner is trying too hard to be Gordon Ramsay or Tom Kerridge. Too few staff to handle the tables. Our young waitress was great but had too many tables to serve so we waited for drinks. Our meals came at different times and extras were forgotten. They were out of the Sirloin on the bone and suckling pig. It was only 8 O’clock so that’s poor. I ordered Fillet but I’m pretty sure it was sirloin I was given. I don’t send food back as I’m worried what will be done to my new dish so I commented and left it at that. We were given a couple of drinks so we were satisfied with that. I really wish they’d concentrate on the basics of good food without the dishes served on tiles and other nonsense. Get an extra waiter in and make sure orders are served together, without forgetting the extras ordered.

The meal was very nice and the service was good, however, and I accept that waitresses are there to see more, but we were told that the side orders were only small and not enough for two persons and we there ordered a second one. When they arrived this was not the case and one would have been enough, and we therefore left half of each, my question is, why lie to us?
