Originally opened in 2005, Garrett Harker’s flagship restaurant has reopened its doors just up Beacon St. only three blocks from its original location. Eastern Standard continues to offer seasonally focused New England interpretations of classic brasserie fare, including raw bar and charcuterie, nostalgic favorites like steak tartare, baked rigatoni, steak frites, and butterscotch bread pudding, and some new soon-to-be-instant-classic dishes. Wonderful, well-priced menu and a lovely dining experience. In the great Eastern Standard tradition (Standard Italian is owned by the same group), the recipes are innovative, and the meals were beautifully plated and delicious. Cocktails, as always, were a huge hit (Jackson Cannon is a bar legend! And the vesper was wonderfully prepared and served — plus, you may not find a more generous pour in Boston). Try the porchetta and the meatballs for sure; the cannoli were also fabulous. And Nisa, our server, was so friendly and passionate about the dishes she recommended and served. Great experience all the way around!
