El Café Berlín lleva sirviendo cocina auténtica alemana en Capitol Hill desde 1985. El establecimiento ocupa la planta baja de 3 casas unifamiliares cuyos jardines frontales hacen las veces de zona de comedor al aire libre. En el interior hay un bar pequeño y 2 salones comedor acogedores. El restaurante está situado a muy poca distancia a pie de Union Station y el Capitolio y recibe a políticos, personal del congreso, turistas y residentes locales. Los chefs elaboran auténticos platillos tradicionales gracias a su larga trayectoria preparando cocina alemana. Además del menú fijo, se ofrecen menús de temporada que incluyen espárragos frescos en primavera, ensaladas y platillos ligeros en verano, platos bávaros durante el Oktoberfest en otoño y carne de caza en invierno. Los postres, recién hechos, incluyen strudel de manzana, tarta selva negra y tortas de crema. El bar propone una selección de cervezas y vinos alemanes importados.

    One of our favorite Capital Hill restaurants. This time however - perhaps due to the Valentine overflow,- was overly crowded.

    This is a great restaurant with an authentic taste of Germany with a cozy and inviting atmosphere. From the moment we stepped inside we were greeted with warm hospitality and a charming European-style ambiance that makes us feel welcome. The menu offers a good selection of traditional German dishes, from hearty bratwurst and schnitzel to delicious potato pancakes and freshly baked pretzels. The flavors are rich and authentic, and the ingredients taste fresh and high-quality. We tried the sauerkraut balle and the stroganoff were fantastic! Also, the selection of German beers and specialty drinks added to the experience, making it a great spot for dining. The service was friendly and attentive and ensured a great dining experience. Overall, Café Berlin brings the heart of Germany to DC. Whether you’re a fan of German cuisine or simply looking for a cozy spot with great food and atmosphere, this café is a must-visit.

    Old inside, musty smell and tried to collect $10 more dollars for restaurant week lunch. When I sat down I was given the restaurant week menu with no price. The server made sure he commented the charge was $35. I immediately told her the website states $25. She said she would talk with the manager. When the bill came it was billed at $35. I pulled up their website and showed the server and asked for the manager. The manager never came but did take the $10 off. You always need to keep the restaurant week menu and price on your phone. This overcharge has happened to me before at other restaurants.

    I always have the Wurstfeast with sauerkraut and Mac & cheese. If you are a German sausage lover like me, this is the greatest. I lived in Germany for two years and Cafe Berlin makes me feel like I’m back there

    We had a great meal -- it had been awhile since we had eaten there and the food was really delicious and thoughtfully prepared. Seasonally inspired and reflected authentic German cuisine. Really lovely hospitality, too.
