The food and atmosphere was great as was the ease of making a reservation. Service was unexpectedly below average. Our server was seldom at our table. We were not asked if we wanted more bread or more drinks or if we wanted dessert. It should be noted that there were several empty tables near us, so he wasn’t busy. I have no to plan to return … excellent food but bad service resulted in an experience that came no where close to being worth the price.

Delicious, quiet dinner with attentive wait staff. Clearing empty dishes promptly and keeping drink glasses filled. Checking frequently if everything was ok. Chilean Sea Bass was cooked perfectly and fried shrimp with the panko bread crumbs so light and tasty.

Our waitress was prompt, cordial, and efficient. Food was served in a timely manner. The only complaint was the chocolate lava cake was missing the lava. Unfortunately it was over baked to the point that the lava was a brick. The filet mignon, mashed potatoes and vegetables were expertly prepared.

This was the second time we had Christmas dinner at AJ’s Steakhouse. It was very good in every regard.

Excellent food and service by Seth and Chuck! I always get the prime rib and it is the best! Very tender cut of beef you could cut with a plastic knife… please don’t change the meat sourcing as this is the best and well worth the $$$. AJs always has great specials too and is a good value as well. I dined on Christmas Day and despite being very busy, the staff did a great job and were efficient in service! Thanks again Seth as always!

Food tasted good. The temperature was terrible. This was a table of 4 and $300. Would not compete with a Ruth Chris or Filet in Ankeny for example. We eat at the bar a lot and have never had a temperature issue. We did not say anything due to Christmas..i asked my family and they did not want to cause a stir, but it was not great. 3 of the 4 of us. Prime Rib, 1, Holiday Dinner 2 and Filet 3 thought we should have them microwave it for a minute or 2. For the cost I expect the BEST service and food. This was certainly not that. Green Beans and Carrots were ice cold and the potatoes and meat were not a lot better. Thought they should serve it covered or it sat for a while somewhere. The pace was good. Service was good and very accommodating.
